Andy’s oil paintings are concerned with a balance between the experienced and the observed. The familiar places he regularly visits are continually recorded, remembered and imagined. This, coupled with the manipulation of paint and the discoveries that arise from a cycle of putting on and taking off, is what facilitates his landscapes compositions.

“My artistic practice is deeply rooted in my daily coastal walks, as well as the familiar rhythms of my home and garden. These quiet moments of observation, along with cherished memories from my childhood, continue to shape and inspire my work.”
Donalda O’Neill

“I relate to the idea of the ‘sublime’ in that being in the Irish landscape is a particular sensory experience I don’t feel anywhere else. It taps into something in my soul, it feels immeasurable and my insignificance in comparison to nature is magnified.”
Deb Kemp

“The way that colours and light change moment to moment through the day, seasons and weathers inspires my work. I can walk the same route many times and always see new views to make me stop and stare. I attempt to capture the feeling of being in the landscape in my drawings and paintings.”
