Amanda’s collection of paintings are a direct response to walking among the long reed-beds and marshes at ‘Red Rock’ a SSSI reserve that lies on the edge of the extensive Dee Estuary, looking out towards Hilbre Island. Consisting of an important range of sand dunes from embryo dunes against the sea to much more established yellow dunes behind, and then on to grey dunes that extend on to The Royal Liverpool Golf Course. Amanda is often found outdoors painting Plein Air but also back in her West Kirby studio, a stones throw from the picturesque Marine Lake.
“Being inspired by the outdoors, using acrylics for this collection, a painterly story is told using different ‘mark making’ techniques to express different dualities – light and dark, rough and smooth. They are a reconnection to place, an interpretation of the natural world.”
