Ann Goddard

Ann’s mixed media constructions and assemblages have evolved from a life-long interest in the landscape, nature, and concern for the environment. Inspiration comes from researching local and global ecological issues. Current pieces explore the destruction of habitats and loss of biodiversity caused by the impact of wild fires and the deforestation method of slash and burn.

Her preferred method of creating form is through construction. Working directly with materials, she juxtaposes a diverse range of contrasting media…fragile with hard, natural with man-made. Techniques used are as varied as her materials. Rather than direct representation, she aims to utilise the intrinsic qualities of materials and processes, to evoke associations and carry the essence of the theme. Ann is a multi-award winning artist and author, based in Cheshire. She has an MA degree in Fine Art, having previously studied creative embroidery, constructed textiles, and ceramics. She exhibits nationally and internationally and has been a member of the prestigious 62 Group of Textile Artists since 2005. In 2022 her book ‘Mixed Media Textile Art in Three Dimensions’ was published by Batsford Books.
