Deborah Butler

Deborah Butler is a Liverpool based painter working in oil on canvas. This selection of paintings is inspired by the coastal paths of Cornwall, Anglesey, and the Llyn Peninsula.

Deborah’s work begins while out walking, with rough sketches, notes and colour studies to capture the landscape in its vastness and its detail. Back in the studio she plays with the scale and structure, the colours and textures observed. She aims to recreate the landscape, the height and depth, the endless expanse and the closest detail. The abstraction varies so the observer may recognize the the location or simply sense something familiar, somewhere they have been before.
