“My work is abstract, painted from memories gathered in the landscape over the seasons. It includes familiar elements – shapes observed on regular walks around the Lake District, Liverpool and the Llŷn Peninsula, between which I divide much of my time; field patterns on the fellside, flotsam washed up along the shoreline, or the remains of an industrial era on the banks of the Mersey.”

Created from kiln-formed glass, Helen’s abstract wall panels and tactile sculptural forms explore the interplay of light, colour and texture inherent in the material. Her work is largely material-led, evolving through a conversation between the glass, the processes she uses, and the shifting colours, textures and surfaces of the coastal landscapes that inspire her.
Estella Scholes
I originally trained as a painter, but now work mainly with printmaking, collage and sometimes book art. The transition from painting on canvas to original printmaking, collage and artists books has been a natural progression over a number of years. I approach printmaking informally, as a painter, developing and adapting skills to allow thoughts and process to evolve towards the end abstracted results.
