Clare Flinn

Clare comes from a family of painters where Still Life is somewhat of a preoccupation. Her painting is rooted in a figurative tradition (and more usually a landscape one too) but she enjoys nothing better than the setting up of a still life composition (a miniature landscape in effect) and then painting from the reference in front of her in her loose, painterly style.

Anna Clark

“The inspiration for my pieces in this exhibition has come from the detail of domestic life – glimpses of day-to-day places and objects which reflect the backcloth of people’s lives (including my own). My starting point is usually a series of sketches and photographs which provide the information for an artistic makeover back in the studio.”

Pete Monaghan

“The works shown here are a departure from my usual paintings which draw upon vernacular architecture. Instead, I have used a pink crockery set (and some doughnuts) as a still life set-up to both challenge and excite.”

Maggie Brown

Maggie Brown is essentially a Landscape Painter but sometimes likes to challenge herself with a new subject matter. She has found that ‘Still Life’ is one such area that can bring nature in from outdoors, and can be combined with a personal or special, handcrafted object. Maggie does this using the same painting techniques that she has used in her landscapes.
